Film: Horror
Several teenage girls are having a slumber party over at Ashley’s house. These are your typical sixteen-seventeen year old girls. For fun they are watching various horror films, in hopes that they’ll be scared. One of the girls, Stephanie, is very cynical when it comes to horror films. She just isn’t scared, or so she likes to pretend. Stephanie ejects a tape from the VCR, and complains to the other girls that this is dumb and not scary. Ashley suggest going to the kitchen to get a snack.
The girls go downstairs to the kitchen. Ashley’s father, Richard, is cooking something on the stove. Stephanie is still complaining about the lack of scares, while the other girls get various snacks from the pantry. Richard hears this and asks if they want to hear a scary story, one that will make up for the movies. Stephanie resists this idea, but the other girls convince her to give Richard’s story a chance. Richard begins telling the girls a story called, Captive of Love.
The girls have moved into the living room. Richard gets up and goes into the kitchen and tends to dinner. Stephanie is a little scared but she tries to hide it from the other girls. The other girls are scared by the tale and loved it. Ashley asks the other girls what their fears are. The girls tell each other their fears. Two of the girls, Jenn and Lauren, both say that they are deathly afraid of snakes. Another girl, Emily, is terrified by heights. A third girl, Angie, is horrified by clowns. Most of the girls laugh at her fear. Stephanie is hesitant about revealing her fear. However, through prodding from the other girls, Stephanie tells them that her greatest fear is drowning. Richard says that he’s got just the story for Stephanie. He begins tell the tale of, Body surfing.
Richard finishes the story and there is no denying that Stephanie is scared now, as are the other girls. Ashley and the other girls really love these stories. Stephanie ties to hide her fright by suggesting they eat something. Richard interjects that they should hold eating till after they hear his final tale. The girls huddle together and get ready for the story. Stephanie sits next to the girls, by herself. A worried look washes over her face as Richard begins his story entitled, Stew.
Richard finishes telling the tale, Stephanie and the other girls are terrified by these tales of horror. They all huddle together in a big ball of nerves. Richard, pleased with his work, gets up and goes back into the kitchen, while the girls calm down and collect themselves. Richard fixes the girls dinner in the background while the girls talk about how they would never pick up a hitch hiker after that story. Stephanie, from the living room, she asks if Richard had ever hitch hiked or picked up a hitch hiker. Richard turns around holding a tray with six large bowls of stew, he tells the girls he’s done a little in his day. Richard walks towards the living room and the waiting girls.
